Have you ever wondered "should I put my house/cottage on the market?" or "what is my house/cottage worth?"
Knowing when it's time to sell your property.
Deciding to sell your home is a BIG decision! Before making the jump it is important to consider a few things that could greatly influence your result.
When we sit with our clients who are considering to list their home and share about current trends in the Real Estate market, we use a few quick guidelines to help determine if it is the right time for you to sell.
1. If you are running out of space.
We always suggest that when purchasing a new home, you should think 5 - 10 years into the future. It may be hard to do but considering things like; the possibility of a new baby, friends and family members frequently visiting, the potential for an in-law or grandparent moving in.
2. If it's a hot Real Estate market.
If you are noticing Sold signs on lawns and home prices are rising in your neighbourhood, it might be worth talking to a Real Estate Professional. Determining potential to make a large return on your investment, that becomes a factor in making your jump. This is especially true with Muskoka cottages, especially if you find you are not using your cottage as much as you thought you would and it is sitting empty, costing you money each year.
3. If you are tired or no longer willing to maintain your current property.
We know that living in Canada is beautiful, but also comes with it's fair share of property maintenance work. From snow shovelling to raking leaves, it can become onerous on home owners. If you are finding that more and more this is how you are feeling, we can help you investigate the options whether scaling down your home, moving to a location that is less work-intensive such as a condo or townhouse communities or closer to family.
4. If your life has changed.
Let's face it, life moves quickly and if you find yourself in a place where a recent event has affected your living situation you may want to consider selling your home. Consider whether your current home is still a right fit, as it may be time to find a location or home that makes more sense.
